This relaxed pub is situated on the High Street in Earls Colne, and is open all day every day.

The beamed lounge bar leads through to the restaurant which dates from the 13th century where above the fireplace you will see a painting dating from the 15th century.

The bar hosts a range of beers including real ales and a guest ale, and at the rear of the building there is a large car park and a beer garden.

The Lion

This 13th century pub stands at the top of the High Street on the right hand side as you head towards Halstead.

The one time Guildhall and Hotel situated on the main street in Earls Colne, The Lion has been recently rebuilt to incorporate the three elements of Pub, Oven and Cellar so that as well as being able to enjoy a drink in comfortable surroundings customers can make a selection from the in-house wine cellar or watch their food being baked in the enormous wood-fired oven. There is a good selection of real ale available plus outside seating.

The Five Bells

The Five Bells inn is well worth seeking out. This top-of-the-range inn boasts an extremely handsome interior, with many original features and an air of real luxury and comfort. The elegance and grace of a gentler age is captured in this superior inn.

The building dates back over 500 years, and a record of the inn's landlords going back to 1579 is proudly displayed in the bar area.

The recently refurbished interior retains lovely features such as the original exposed timbers and is tastefully decorated and furnished; outside, a lovely terrace commands stunning views over the Colne Valley.
